Self-Care Spotlight: Physical Care⁣ 🏋🏻‍♀️

Can you you imagine how differently you would approach your workouts if you saw them as self care, rather than an obligation, or something that needed to be done?

Taking care of your physical being is so important, and sometimes it’s easy to forget about it - we get caught up in the day and feed ourselves junk food because it’s convenient, or sit at desks or on the couch all day because we are “working” or “tired” when we get home, and then by the end of the day we’re too tired to go to the gym. The first thing we do when we get busy is eliminate the one thing that gets the blood flowing, energizes us, and gives us fresh perspective and clarity. I get it.

But moving your body helps clear and cleanse more than just your body, it’s connected to your mind too. ⁣ Even taking as little as 10 minutes a few times a day adds up.

Here’s a few ideas for how you can take a few minutes for physical self-care today.⁣

🏋🏻‍♀️Do a workout⁣: Take a yoga or Zumba glass, pump some iron, do a quick HIIT workout, nothing beats getting in a full-blown workout (IMHO).

🚶🏻‍♀️Take a walk (10 min or more)⁣: Think about it, if you take a 10 minute walk every hour for six hours, BOOM, you’ve got an HOUR of walking in. Talk about getting that step count up right?!⁣

💆🏻‍♀️Get a massage⁣: Massaging out the toxins in your body, and the relief from muscle tension feels pretty good too.

😴Take a nap (rest is caring for your physical body too): Too often we overlook the importance of sleep. Did you know that getting six or less hours of sleep results in higher cortisol levels (the stress hormone), and causes your body to hang on to fat and make it more difficult to build muscle? The optimal sleep range is 7-9 hours per night to maintain those cortisol levels. #stressrelief

🍓Cook a healthy, yummy meal with whole foods⁣: Nutrition plays a vital role in how we feel. Like I said, when we get busy, it’s easy to get something to eat because it’s convenient, and oftentimes if it’s convenient, it’s probably not healthy. So treat your insides to something yummy and nourishing, and feel good from the inside out!

Try these Affirmations:

🍓I love, accept, and care for my body.⁣

🍓My body is a temple and I treat it as so.

🍓I make time to care for my body.

🍓When I care for my body it cares for me.

🍓I love to move my body
